The Role of Scandinavia Scout
The successful candidate will help identify and assess players from Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland) – across First Team and youth levels. The successful candidate will assist Brentford FC in identifying and recruiting high potential undervalued players faster and more effectively than our competitors. The role covers the recruitment of players for the First Team and B Team (U21) squads.
Main Accountabilities
- To lead on the identification, assessment and final shortlisting of suitable player targets for Brentford Football Club across all relevant markets in Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland).
- To work closely with the Lead Europe Scout & Lead Technical Scout in the assessment of suitable player profiles identified through data & other resources in Scandinavia.
- To communicate with agents / external network communication on players within Scandinavia to gather market intelligence to inform the scouting process, in communication with the Lead Europe Scout.
- To provide monthly position specific player recommendations for key markets in Scandinavia.
- To work effectively within the defined Scouting Department processes to ensure serious players of interest from Italy are identified, and progressed on, faster and more effectively than our competitors.
- To attend live fixtures in Scandinavia both proactively and on request.
- To watch videos of potential players of interest and file reports in line with the Recruitment Departments process.
- To assist the Lead Europe Scout / Head of Scouting / Technical Director to ensure comprehensive due diligence on all players of interest from Italy.
- To assist the Lead Europe Scout / Head of Scouting on any additional responsibilities relevant to your role and region covered.
- To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics
- Based in Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden or Norway)
- Multilingual - ability to speak English and one of: Danish; Norwegian; Swedish
- High level of current knowledge / experience of Scandinavian football, both at 1st Team and youth level
- A strong and established network of contacts working within Scandinavian football at an elite level
- Ability to attend live games and pick out the best most suitable players for a football club’s positional criteria
- Ability to work with data / resource to provide assessment on players in alignment with a football club’s positional criteria
- Ability to articulate player assessments effectively through verbal and written communication
- Ability to work effectively within clearly defined processes
- Experience of using relevant football scouting video platforms
- IT literate, competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Organized, structured, and process driven
- Proactive mindset
Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics
- Minimum 3 years’ experience / knowledge of working within a professional football club scouting department at an elite level
- Football related qualifications and/or sports related bachelor’s degree qualification, or similar education.
- Ability to edit / clip video footage using platforms such as WyScout, iMovie, Windows Video Editor etc.
