The Role of the People Business Partner
Brentford Football Club are looking for a People Business Partner to provide strategic and operational support to aligned business functions, partnering with senior stakeholders. The People Business Partner will act as a trusted partner and help build and implement effective people strategies and activities within their areas in line with the needs and priorities of the Club.
This role is central to building people capability and implementing effective people strategies to drive organisational success.
Purpose:
- Play a key role in building people capability and implementing the People strategy in line with the Club’s objectives.
- Provide proactive and pragmatic advice to empower managers
- Support employees and foster a culture of continuous learning, development and improvement.
- Ensures compliance with safeguarding responsibilities, promotes Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and oversight of safer recruitment practices to create a secure, inclusive and equitable environment.
Main Accountabilities
- Partner closely with stakeholders across aligned business areas to provide generalist People support.
- Contribute to your business areas strategic direction, attending departmental/senior leadership team meetings, discussing people activities and challenges, and proactively supporting the team to provide solutions.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and process guides to ensure consistency, develop competency and alignment with club standards and employment law.
- Deliver key People initiatives such as organisational design, workforce planning, restructures, talent management, acquisition and retention.
- Manage and advise on Employee Relations casework, such as disciplinaries, grievances, performance, redundancy, change management programmes and TUPE, whilst mitigating against any risks to the organisation.
- Identify and analyse trends from People dashboard KPIs and reports to support decision making and proactively resolve any challenges.
- Using data and insight to take a mid to long-term view of the club, anticipating future workforce demands and proactively translating into solutions
- Contributing to EDI programmes and activities, linking this to the Club’s EDI strategy and compliance with the Premier League Equality Diversity and Inclusion Standard (PLEDIS).
- Align all people activities to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) outcomes.
- Fulfil safeguarding responsibilities to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals, adhering to all relevant policies and regulations.
- Work collaboratively managers to coach and build line management capability on relevant policies and procedures.
- Conduct and facilitate training sessions as required to ensure team members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills
- Demonstrate and promote organisational culture through professional behaviour and positive interactions
- Respond and adapt to changing circumstances, contributing to the development of solutions to ensure they are fit for purpose
- Deliver professional communication across multiple stakeholder groups and channels with the ability to present and deliver compelling messages.
- Work with your Leadership Teams and internal comms to support the development and execution of appropriate communications campaigns to engage with audiences on the employee experience offer to ensure full engagement and understanding.
- Undertake ad-hoc People projects where required in line with the People strategic plan.

Role requirements:
- Wide ranging knowledge of value-creating generalist human resources at business partner level
- Previous experience with culture and engagement, change management, organisational design, and talent & succession planning.
- Demonstrable experience of contributing to people strategy development, translation into pragmatic delivery plans and implementation through to conclusion.
- Ability to deliver high impact services in a fast paced and fluid working environment, bringing clarity and structure where appropriate.
- Strong communicator, able to influence senior leaders with a “how to”/” yes, if” rather than a “no” mentality.
- Experience of working with high performing teams in a fast-paced environment, comfortable with working independently, without close support or oversight.
- Ability to manage and plan own workload within a dynamic and time constrained environment.
- A focus on data-driven decision making.
- Previous experience working with an HRIS and related employee platforms desirable.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified, or equivalent experience
