The Role of the Technical Coach - Women's First Team
Brentford FC has an exciting opportunity for an innovative and progressive technical coach to assist the Women's First Team Head Coach. They will join our expanding women’s football department on a part-time basis as we build a strategy to deliver our longer-term ambition to progress up the women’s football pyramid assisting in all areas relating to the training and preparation of the first team as delegated by the head coach.
The women’s first team gained promotion from Tier 6 this season and will step up to compete in Tier 5 next season, with matches mainly on Sunday afternoons. We are looking for an individual who excels at session design and can collaborate with the head coach to plan and deliver game-related practices that maximise the tactical preparation of players, fosters problem solving and decision making and, where appropriate, driving intensity that meets or exceeds the demands of game.

We have plans to grow and evolve our women’s programme through thoughtful leadership and innovation; identifying where we can do things differently whilst also establishing Brentford FC Women into the fabric of English domestic women’s football.
Main Accountabilities
- Support the Head Coach with the detailed planning, delivery and review of evening training sessions (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays) for the club’s newly promoted women’s first team.
- Work within the women's evolving coaching philosophy and style of play, keeping detailed records of training sessions.
- Enquire, probe, check and challenge the Head Coach about all aspects of playing style and team selection. Act as a sounding board and encourage healthy debate.
- Support the Head Coach to lead the club’s first team, competing in the London & South-East Regional Women’s Premier Division, Women’s FA Cup, Capital Cup (Senior Edition) and all additional competitive and friendly fixtures, typically on Sunday afternoons.
- Assist the Head Coach in the tactical analysis of the women’s first team, their opponents and individual player analysis, supporting effective game plans and in-match strategies to maximise team success.
- Build positive performance-focused relationships with players, motivating them to achieve their full potential, driving individual and team performance to win games.
- Support the creation and maintenance of a positive team culture.
- Support the Head Coach in the design and implementation of individual development plans (IDPs) for first team players and, where appropriate, provide feedback to players in line with agreed IDP processes and timelines.
- Work collaboratively with the first team inter-disciplinary team, the Head Coach, Women’s Football Consultant, B Team Head Coach, and recruitment staff to develop players and prepare the team to win.
- Build strong performance-focused relationships with all Brentford FC Women’s staff, particularly those also working with the first-team players.
- Attend all first team matches and B team matches when required or instructed.
- Support the Head Coach working with recruitment staff and the Women’s Football consultant to pro-actively manage squad depth charts and identify short-medium-and long-term recruitment priorities
- Review players, when required, for potential first team recruitment.
- Stand in for the Head Coach as reasonably requested from time to time.
- Attend occasional club commercial and media functions and events, as required.
- Attend all relevant continuing professional development (CPD) events, contribute to the club style of play and ensure that the women’s evolving game model principles and training methodologies are delivered consistently.
- Ensure that any safeguarding concerns observed, or raised with you in your role, are shared with the safeguarding team through the appropriate channels.
- Work with the Head Coach and Women’s Football Consultant to confirm and implement mentoring and other self-development priorities.
- Any other relevant tasks as directed by the first team Head Coach, Women’s Football Consultant or the women’s football management team.
General Club Accountabilities
- To ensure compliance with all relevant Club policies, including safeguarding, health and safety policies and with specific reference to the data regulations (GDPR and PECR)
- To ensure compliance with the Club’s Code of Conduct
- To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements
- To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Brentford FC
