The Role of the Casual Academy Physio /Sport Therapist
Brentford Football Club is enjoying the most exciting period in its history and we’re
looking for accomplished Physiotherapists or Sports Therapists to join our team for our new Academy.
This is a casual part-time training/matchday role working weekends and weekday
evenings, plus regular travel to away games.
As part of our responsibility to excellence we offer all casual staff a continuing
professional development programme, enabling Physiotherapists/Sports Therapists to
develop their skills.
We are looking for pro-active individuals with a forward-thinking and problem-solving
attitude, who understands their scope of practice, and who seeks to develop their
skills.
Main Accountabilities
- To provide training/matchday cover to Academy players (mostly Saturday/Sunday mornings and/or weekday evenings) within a flexible rota
- Complete emergency medical equipment checks prior to matches
- Diagnosis and treatment of acute injuries and trauma management pitch-side of games
- Knowledge of acute injury management programmes and injury prevention strategies
- Record all matchday injuries and treatment delivered, and handover to Lead U9-U16 Physiotherapist
- Refer injured players for additional assessment/treatment as appropriate (A&E, GP, Club Doctor)
- Understanding of growth and maturation and its implications on the development of athletes
- Effective and appropriate communication skills, and high standards of professionalism
- To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics
- Undergraduate Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy Degree or equivalent field
- ATMMiF or ITMMiF qualification (or equivalent)
- Able to commit to regular requests to attend training sessions and games as
required (inclusive of 1 away game per month)
- Able to work in a team and independently
- Embody Club values – togetherness, respectful and progressive
Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics
- Previous experience of a similar role at a sports organisation
- FA Safeguarding Certification
- Able to drive with access to own vehicle
